I truly believe that language, the one we've had for 40000 years is the killer knowledge technology, and that no computer technology or mathematical theory will ever beat language at being smart. The only possible exception I can think of is
I'm trying to start a collection of notes on ideas about the future This is a long standing interest of mine.

Technology Trends.I plan to summarize my idea of where software and computer technology is taking us these days

Cognitive Science. I need to smarten up my knowledge of the brain and start building a solid resource on that

I should write some stuff about politics. I'm personally fed up with social conservatism, one eyed liberalism and uninformed socialism. The world needs to get better at understanding itself, and quickly please. It's about establishing a politics that's emotionally comprehensible, while being rational and fair.

Philosophy. I occasionally call myself the most religious atheist I ever met. To me that comes about as the logical consequence of protestantism. The right approach to religion ends up killing the religion that formed it. At the same time, I'm very much aware of my roots in christianity. I like the storytelling and morals of Christian society - as tempered in modern secular society. Anyway, my philosophical interests are really more antiphilosophy than anything else. As much as I love and admire my heritage (i.e. the heritage of western civilzation) I simply can't stand dogma in any way shape or form. I'm going to write some stuff about that.

The Hyper Complex Society. The infamous William Gibson remark about the future that is here already but unevenly distributed has turned into the shortest phrase that captures the noisy, painful development of modern society. At one end you have people like mu usual core audience on the weblog: People who read a lot, travel a lot, speak a lot and understand a lot of the new culture that is constantly invading the old.
But alongside these new, fragile, everchanging digital cultures are tons of other networks of meaning with very different lifetimes, logics and membership. I have a long standing dream to do some serious writing about how this new world is actually perceived from a purely individual stand point by people seeing the changes from very different stations in life. At least I can try to capture in writing some of the mechanisms that I think are involved and how they are involved.

Culture at large: It's a pretty safe bet that some of the books I read will become important references for future thinking (probably even too many of them, apophenia be damned) - and it's an even safer bet that I won't be done with these books after the first reflections, which makes the ideas perfect for wiki-capture.

The JB's var perfekt funk.

I feel like i've been lectured by a guy who has no actual understanding of the Internet. I don't know about French politics, but personally, I sort of hated him.
