Hackers employed social hacking and malware they knew wouldn't be caught by anti-virus software to do cleverly executed digital break-ins. It's an obvious thing to do: Roll-your-own malware tested properly against all the known detectors, used sparingly to avoid unnecessary risk of detection and consequent development of immunity.
