Great moments in history

The world's first barcode scanned supermarket purchase was a 10-pak of Juicy Fruit Gum, sold in the Marsh Supermaket in Troy, Ohio on June 26, 1974. Interestingly, it took 25 years from the invention of the barcode before this first application in retail.
